If your camera exports a spherical fisheye or dual fisheye footage, some editing softwares require you to convert your footage into equirectangular format before you can edit them. Others, like Pinnacle Studio will work with these and convert them into equirectangular format for editing. If you have a device that captures your footage by stitching multiple cameras together (ex. a device that holds 6 GoPros to capture all 360 degrees), you will still be required to use stitching software to create a 360 file, video editing and stitching software are two very different things.

The software's video monitor displays only a portion of the entire spherical video, but you can easily change which part of the shot is visible by clicking on the video monitor and dragging the mouse cursor. Besides enabling you to stitch 360-degree videos, Magix Movie Edit Pro also lets you apply video effects, adjust colors or add overlaying images to the original video. However, the software's exporting features are somewhat limited, because you can't upload 360-degree videos directly from the software to online video sharing platforms.

I had the configuration set to auto update but I checked every day and the date did not change from the day I installed the software. There was no response to a report form I filled in on the website, so then I emailed support. 24 hours later, which was now 5 days without an update, I received a reply that included "Maybe there is some delay between our server and your local machine, so we advise users try to upgrade to the latest version by clicking on the "Check for updates" in the settings."

Did a few basic edits (changed orientation & few fades) and the export was at 4k without any problem. (the options were 720 & 4k) Did notice that the audio was out of sync though. (Test footage came from the YI VR 360 downloaded at 4k from Youtube, rather than ‘actual’ 360 footage) My intention would be to use Cyberlink Powerdirector 15, however it does not currently offer (I don’t believe) the option to select the initial orientation, which I believe would be a useful feature.

When you export your video from your camera, if you are using a 360 video device chances are it is already in one of the popular 360 monoscopic formats: equirectangular, spherical fisheye or dual fisheye. When you play it back on your computer's default video player (example Windows Media Player), your footage does not look right because this is not a 360 video player. Below is likely one of the views you are seeing when you open it in a standard video player:
