The only drawbacks are that so far it seems my exports are limited to 2.7K.   I don’t know if that’s because my video clips are not from the Virb 360 or because of my PC hardware.  I did order the Virb 360, which I hope to receive soon to see if I will be able to get 4K.  You can download Virb Edit here (for Windows or Mac).UPDATE:  This is bizarre, but I’ve found that if the footage I use is from Xiaomi or 2016 Gear 360, I can export at 4K 30 fps.  If it’s from the 2017 Gear 360 (4096 x 2048), it’s limited to 2.7K.   But if I mix footage from Xiaomi and 2017 Gear 360, I can export at 4k.  On the other hand, if I add clips from the Nano or Air, the maximum I can export is 2.7K.

Even though Final Cut Pro lets you edit 360-degree videos, you need to make sure that your computer meets the technical requirements necessary for editing spherical videos. Furthermore, if the 360-degree footage captured by the camera isn't stitched together, the software won't permit you to import the footage unless you install a plugin. Before you can start editing you have to create a new 360-degree video project, so you can begin utilizing the software's 360-degree video editing tools.
Note the word "try" to upgrade to the latest version, because checking for updates didn't change anything for me. To issue such advice also sounds like an admission that the auto update is problematic. As far as I am concerned it is too unreliable for me to depend on it, so 360 Total Security Essential is now uninstalled from my computers and I am uising something else instead.
Adding text, creating PIP effects, performing color correction, applying visual effects or stabilizing shaky footage are just some of the options PowerDirector offers, however, using them will require you to familiarize with the 360-degree video editing process. The current version of CyberLink PowerDirector only lets you export 360-degree videos as H.264/MP.4 files at the highest video resolution of 3840X1920 pixels and 30fps.
With 360 video you do not have to worry about not capturing the right angle - because it captures almost every angle. You do have to remember that everything around your camera will be in the video, the detail of every room, the camera operator, any equipment or cords. If you are holding it by hand - be prepared that your face will always be in the footage.

To edit a 360-degree video with Magix Movie Edit Pro you first need to create a 360-degree project and then switch to the 360-degree view. The software will stitch all your spherical videos in real time, but how long the process is going to last depends on the size of each file you're stitching together. The software's video monitor displays only a portion of the entire spherical video, but you can easily change which part of the shot is visible by clicking on the video monitor and dragging the mouse cursor. Besides enabling you to stitch 360-degree videos, Magix Movie Edit Pro also lets you apply video effects, adjust colors or add overlaying images to the original video. However, the software's exporting features are somewhat limited, because you can't upload 360-degree videos directly from the software to online video sharing platforms.

The V360 is very similar to the Collect app in that its specifically designed for editing 360 video. Select any 360 video from the app and you’ll be able to preview it in full 360 mode, merge slips, shorten or delete sections and add music. The functionality of the V360 is fairly basic but really easy to use and could be a great alternative if you don’t get on with the more unique style of the collect app.
360-degree video is typically recorded using either a special rig of multiple cameras, or using a dedicated camera that contains multiple camera lenses embedded into the device, and filming overlapping angles simultaneously. Through a method known as video stitching, this separate footage is merged into one spherical video piece, and the color and contrast of each shot is calibrated to be consistent with the others.[4][5] This process is done either by the camera itself, or using specialized software such as Mistika VR or Kolor AVP that can analyze common visuals and audio to synchronize and link the different camera feeds together. Generally, the only area that cannot be viewed is the view toward the camera support.[6][7]
